OSEA2018 Exhibitor Highlight: Muns Techniek
November 21, 2018 | Singapore | OSEA2018 Industry Insights
Participating for the first time at OSEA2018 is Dutch company Muns Techniek, a system integrator for hydraulic systems and electrical (and software) controls.
As part of the Dutch pavilion at OSEA2018 and in cooperation with Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT), the subsidiary of Montanhydraulik Group will play host to the Holland Networking Event on Wednesday, 28 November 2018, aimed at building new business relations and deepen existing ones.
Here, Muns Techniek’s Commercial Director, Jeroen Hendrikx, shares more about his company and its involvement at Asia’s largest Oil & Gas industry event.
Q: Tell us more about Muns Techniek.
A: Muns Techniek is a system integrator for Hydraulic systems and Electrical (+ software) controls. With more than 25 years of experience, we offer state-of-the-art solutions for projects in the Maritime, Offshore and Industry. From single solutions like hydraulic winches to complete turn-key projects such as jack-up systems, Muns Techniek helps integrate customer demands into motion technology.
Muns Techniek has the capability to integrate hydraulic power with intelligent electric control and software into a full operational system. Muns Techniek is also able to contribute to an entire project’s process – from the initial concept to the final commissioning and operations. Muns Techniek aims to develop durable solutions that help make processes economical, flexible, environmentally sustainable and completely controllable.
Q: This year’s participation at OSEA2018 will be Muns Techniek’s first. What were some reasons that compelled Muns Techniek to be an exhibitor?
A: There are 2 main reasons for our participation:
- Despite the current headwinds in the offshore sector in particular, the Singapore maritime industry remains a large and powerful sector. And even though there’s a decline, the maritime activities in Singapore are taking place on such a wide scale and people are working so hard on the road that Singapore remains an absolutely attractive market.
- The maritime market is very international. If you want to be a player in this market, you have to participate in various exhibitions to get your company’s name exposed. We consider OSEA as one of the important exhibitions in South East Asia, with a lot of important visitors. So the decision to participate with OSEA 2018 was easy.
Q: What will Muns Techniek showcase at OSEA2018?
A: At our booth (1K4-05), we will demonstrate how easy it is to lift a jack-up installation vessel with our proprietary Human Machine Interface (HMI). We have a demo model where visitors are encouraged to try getting and keeping a vessel in a level situation. Besides that, we will also be demonstrating another development from Muns Techniek – a software that will show the jacking operator and survey inspectors in ‘real time’ the forces of the legs and depth of the legs into the soil, as compared to the expected integrity of the soil. Results are all conveniently shown in a graph, something that has never been shown before in Asia.
Q: Any thoughts on developments in the oil and gas industry?
A: To achieve the political aspirations of many governments for the offshore wind energy, a larger fleet of jack-up installations vessels is needed – even a new generation may be required. Muns Techniek has a lot of experience with building jacking equipment with minimum interfaces, and we hope our expertise will fully satisfy our future customers as we’ve done so in the past.
As the oil price is reaching levels where the oil companies are investing again, we believe plenty of cold and warm stacked rigs will be put back into operation once more. However, a lot of these rigs are old and may need upgrades or conversions to meet new standards. In this regard, Muns Techniek will be able to assist by converting old control systems with state-of-the-art technology and making processes controllable.
