Graduated in July 2004 with a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, he pursued his postgraduate studies in Master of Science in Defence Technology and Systems with National University of Singapore (NUS) and Master of Science Degree in System Engineering with Distinction Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) System Engineering with outstanding thesis in 2014.
He joined the marine arm of ST Engineering in 2009 and specialises in the design and system integration of weapons & electronics system onboard vessels. Kwong Yang was placed in-charge of the design and integration of weapons and electronics systems. Weapon systems ranges from guns to missiles and electronics systems such as navigation, communication, sensors and combat management systems. He is currently leading the design and development for unmanned solutions in both commercial and defence applications in the Marine Technology Solutions team.
Kwong Yang was one of the designer in the 75m Al-Ofouq patrol vessels programme, designed & built for the Royal Navy of Oman; the 80m Littoral Mission Vessels designed & built for the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the 141m Landing Platform Dock designed & built locally for the Royal Thai Navy. He was also the Project lead in the RSN’s Missile Corvette Vessel, Frigate and Landing Ship Tank upgrade projects.
